Berlin G. Myers Parkway Extension-Aided by Federal Stimulus

$14.6 million dollars will be coming into Dorchester County, compliments of the federal government’s economic stimulus package.  The county has decided to use the funds to allow for an early completion of the Berlin G. Myers Parkway.  Currently the parkway ends near Bacons Bridge Road, the money will be used to extend the parkway an additional 2.5 miles so that it connects with 17A southwest of Orangeburg Road.   This project is the final phase of the construction of the parkway begun in 2001.  The roadwork will begin within 90 days  and will help to stimulate construction work in our area.  There will be a lot of people involved in the construction of the Berlin G. Myers extension.  In addition, this will continue to divert traffic off of Main Street (17A) and help people navigate through Summerville more easily.

  1. Is there a website that has a drawn plan of the extension of the Parkway? I live on the bike path and am interested to know exactly where it go.
    Thank you,
