Fun Events In Charleston & Summerville-Spring & Summer 2009

Charleston and Summerville are glorious in the Spring, and HOT in the Summer.  Here is a list of fun things coming in the days ahead to help you enjoy the weather. Hope to see  you in Charleston. 

Folly Beach Moonlight Mixer-Shaggin on the Pier
Location: Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier
Dates: April 17, May 29, June 12, June 26, July 10, July 31, August 14, Sept. 4, Sept 25
Time: 7-11pm (All Mixers are on Friday night, rain date the following Saturday)
Tickets: (843) 795-4386 ($10-advance, $8-advance purchase for Charleston residents, $10 at gate if any tickets are available.)

This is one of event that ranks as an all time favorite for my daughters.  Dance the night away under the stars and with the ocean sounds! Very fun night. Food and Beverages are sold at the location.
Third Thursday DREAMfest
Location: Hutchinson Square & Short Central (Downtown Summerville)
Date: Thursday, April 16, 2009 (5 pm to 8 pm) 

The Third Thursday event is a chance to get out and enjoy the evening in Downtown Summerville.  DREAM has put together a wonderful free concert, exhibits (Art Walk), refreshments, and featured artists.  Stores will be open late until 8pm

20th Annual John Tupper Flowertown Golf Classic Tee Off Party & Golf Tournament 

Location: Tee Off Party at The Farmhouse at The Ponds, Golf Tournament at Legend Oaks Golf Club

Dates: Friday, April 24, 2009 – Saturday, April 25, 2009

20th Annual John Tupper Flowertown Golf Classic, presented by the Junior Service League of Summerville Tee Off Party: Friday, April 24, 2009 / 7pm-10pm The Farmhouse at the Ponds – Summerville Tickets $35 each (open to all); include great food, open bar, fantastic music, and silent auction. Tournament: Saturday, April 25, 2009 / 9am Legend Oaks Golf Club – Summerville Registration $120 per golfer; includes 2 tickets to Tee Off Party, breakfast, 18 holes of golf, and lunch.

Golden Age of Summerville Festival
Location: Historic Downtown Summerville
Date: Friday, May 1, 2009 – Sunday, May 3, 2009

Enjoy a wonderful weekend of learning about Summerville’s history and charm. This year’s festival will include The Lowcountry Antique & Appraisal Expo, A special visit from the SC Model T Ford Club (both days), The famous Summerville Farmer’s Market, A Children’s Victorian Tea, Interactive Children’s Activities, Ghost Tours, Carriage & Trolley Tours, A Five Star “Evening of Southern Splendor” at Woodlands Inn, and a “Southern Garden Tea” at Linwood.

Sculpture in the South

Location: Summerville’s Azalea Park
Dates: May 16-May17, 2009

Enjoy a day of visiting with over 35 renowned artists from all over the US and viewing their art sculptures in the park.  My favorite are the wildlife exhibits/sculptures. If you love art, you don’t want to miss this in Summerville.

Turtle Fest at Edisto Beach  

Location: Edisto Beach State Park

Spring means the Loggerhead Turtles will be coming to the South Carolina Beaches and laying their eggs!  Come to Edisto Beach State Park to learn about the turtles…crafts, exhibits and more.
Spoleto Festival USA, 2009

Location: Downtown Charleston
Dates: Saturday, May 22-June 7,2009

Mother’s Day Celebration
Location: The Ponds Farmhouse Pavilion
Date: May 9, 2009: 11-2pm

“Pack a picnic lunch, lawn chairs and bathing suits and join us at the farmhouse pavilion. Moms–kick back while your children are entertained. Games, jump castle, face painting and more! Craft stations will be set up for little ones to make that special gift for mom! There is no cost but all children participating must be registered no later than 5/1/09 so we can be sure to have enough supplies on hand.” To register, email names and ages of children to: or call (843)851-3939.

  2. Thank you for keeping us updated on the housing market in the Summerville area. We are still planning on checking into property in that area.

    With our son returning after he retires from the Coast Guard we plan on following soon after.
