This race is part of an overall effort to promote fitness in the school and entire community. Proceeds benefit the Newington Elementary PTA with a portion dedicated to the “Dolphin Tree” project. The 5k race course is certified: SC02026BS.
Race runs entirely through the Newington Plantation Neighborhood in Summerville. Race begins and ends at The Newington Elementary School.

You have until Sunday, October 27th, to vote for your favorite display. Winning ribbons will be placed on Scarecrows on Wednesday, October 30th by 5:00 pm. Scarecrows will be taken down by Saturday, November 2nd, at 4:00 pm.

Children can grab their favorite costume and “trick or treat” in a safe environment. Prizes will be given away including a new Wii U Deluxe Bundle for the best costume. When kids aren’t “trick or treating” they can enjoy a jump castle, balloon animals, refreshments, face painting and tour Summerville Medical Center’s new Pediatric Center. Kids and Cars will be on hand offering a kids safety demonstration. A children’s “Zumbathon” will also take place at 10:30 am. The Summerville Fire Department and Dorchester County EMS will be offering tours of a fire truck and ambulance. “Spooktacular” is free and open to all ages.

The Birthplace of Sweet Tea. This 1½ hour guided tour will take you through our
small southern town where tea isn’t the only thing that’s sweet.
You’ll see our lovingly preserved downtown, historic homes, and where
sweet tea first started. Tour starts in the Visitor Center with a
history film from 1939. Summerville’s very own local historian will give a
guided tour on the trolley with a stop at the historic Linwood Gardens.
In case of rain Linwood owner will board the trolley and give oral tour.
