Third Thursdays:

When: Sept 15th, October 20th,  & November 17th

Where: Hutchinson Square, Downtown Summerville

Time: 5-8pm, Rain or Shine

All of the Summerville businesses are open late and open to shoppers to come in and browse.  With more than 20 drinking and dining establishments in walking distance, there are plenty of options to choose from, many running specials on Third Thursdays.

As you stroll through town, listen to live local musicians and enjoy being a part of small town Summerville life and support local businesses.

Sweet Tea Festival:

When: Thursday – Sunday, November 10-13,2016

Where: Hutchinson Square, Downtown Summerville

Time: Thursday Night – Sunday

You don’t want to miss Summerville’s “Sweet Tea Festival!”  The fun starts Thursday night with a the kickoff event including a modern art show & sale and pub crawl run/walk.  Saturday starts with the Sweet Tea Half Marathon, Farmer’s Market, Live Music, Food Trucks, Vendors, Kid Stops (Fun for the  Kids)

2016 Scarecrows on the Square

When: Two weeks in October

Where: Hutchinson Square in Downtown Summerville, SC

About: Every year the Summerville Junior Service League hosts this wonderful event for the town of Summerville. Local businesses, schools and groups decorate scarecrows and post them around our very own Hutchinson Square.  You can walk around and enjoy them for the last two weeks in October.  This is a lot of fun for kids and adults alike.

Harvest Moon Festival

When: Saturday, October 22, 2016 6-9pm

Where: Hutchinson Square in Downtown Summerville

About: On October 22nd, there will be a Ghost Walk and Hayrides at the Harvest Moon Festival!  Feel free to wear your favorite costume and come out and celebrate with the town. The Summerville Junior Service League works to bring this great event to the town.  All proceeds benefit the School Supply Fund for Dorchester School Districts 2 &4.

Details:

  •  Ghostwalk tour and access to all carnival games. $4 in advance, or $6 on day of the event, Tickets go on Sale October 1st.
  • Kids under 3 are FREE
  • Tickets for Ghostwalk can be purchased at: Guerin’s Pharmacy, Summerville Dance Academy, Bottles ‘n Brushes, Perfectly Franks, Prima Dance & Formal,  & Kelly’s Dance

Gingerbread Creation Contest:

The Gingerbread Creation Contest has become a favorite for those participating and those wandering around and looking at them! Let your creative side go and make a fun creation for display around Summerville!  Join us in downtown Summerville for Summerville DREAM’s Gingerbread Creation Contest. Sugary creations will be on display throughout Historic Downtown Summerville in November & December.  Prizes will be given for Culinary Professional, Adult, Child, and Group (family, organization, business, club, etc.) categories. A Christmas Carol Walking Tour with Tim Lowry

When: December 21,2016

Where: Historic Downtown Summerville

About: Charles Dicken’s “A Christmas Carol” is one of the staples of the Christmas season and now you can hear the Summerville local storyteller, Tim Lowry retell it!  Walk around Historic Downtown Summerville with Lowry and have a great evening of Ebeneezer Scrooge and Christmas Cheer.  Learn More about the Christmas Carol Walking Tour.

Christmas Tree Lighting

When: Tuesday, Dec. 6,2016 5-7:30pm

Where: Hutchinson Square, Downtown Summerville

About: The annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Hutchinson Square will be on Tuesday, December 6th at 7pm. Join the Mayor of the Town of Summerville as he lights up Town Square in Historic Downtown Summerville. Prior to the lighting, musical entertainment, food vendors, and few kids activities and free cookies will be available starting at 5:00 pm. This event is hosted by the Flowertown Garden Club.

Summerville Christmas Parade

When: December 11, 2016 2pm

Where: Downtown Summerville

About: Come have fun and celebrate the Christmas Season with this fun family event. The Summerville Christmas Parade has grown to one of the largest in the state and is a sight to behold! Each year the Summerville DREAM team picks a theme for the parade and participants are judged on originality, creativity and overall effort. Summerville Schools, businesses and organizations all are encouraged to participate and support the community. Come join the town! Register for the Summerville Christmas Parade.
