According to this chart, the top reason people move is to provide a great place to raise their families. Summerville, SC was a great place to raise my four children with my wife, Patricia. We enjoyed being able to let them ride their bikes to the tennis courts for an afternoon game. Often the request to ride to “downtown” for an ice cream cone from Guerins was made. They would window shop on the Main Street of Summerville and sometimes spend their own money on special gifts for friends and family. I would always remind them that when I went to Guerins as a boy, the soda was only 10cents…groans ensued. 🙂 Speaking from experience, my own as a child and that of my four grown kids, Summerville is a great place to call home. My daughter, Irene Rose even went on to write songs about the treasure of growing up here.
